For years, downtown Sunnyvale sat in flux as one developer after another struggled to complete the overhaul of Sunnyvale Town Center, a demolished mall once anchored by Macy’s and Target.
When Hunter Partners, Sares Regis and J.P. Morgan Asset Management took the project over from Sand Hill Property Co. in 2016 and reimagined it as Cityline Sunnyvale, the joint venture hired a retail brokerage team that could help them fulfill a vision of a dense downtown with lively foot traffic.
The Econic Co. was that team. Founder and CEO James Chung and executive director Nicole Lyon secured more than 20 leases, bringing in major retail chains such as Ulta Beauty, Shake Shack, Urban Plates, Pacific Catch and YogaSix. Their work earned the Econic Co. the honor of being the first Silicon Valley Broker of the Year recognized by the Bay Area Real Estate Deals of the Year Awards.
